From music to manifesto (2009)

Having grown up listening to the likes of Harry Belafonte, Subinoy Roy, Frank Sinatra, Begum Akhtar, Nat King Cole, Pankaj Kumar Mullick and Paul Robeson, hearing politicians scream should be jarring. Suman Kabir admits as much.

“The biggest challenge is to keep my music alive. I can sense the dichotomy. Being wedded to music, the cacophony of politics is jarring. But this is more than politics. This is a movement, and willy-nilly, I have become part of it,” a candid Suman said on Tuesday.
